This specimen is a rare fossil of insect tracks from the Pennsylvanian period. This fossil was found in Cordova, Alabama, USA. 

The Pennsylvanian period also known as the Late Carboniferous period is the younger of two sub periods of the Carboniferous Period. It lasted from roughly 323.2 million years ago to 298.9 million years ago. This time period is best known for the diversification of amphibians, insects and the vast amount of plant material provided by extensive forests that resulted in the later formation of coal. The Pennsylvanian period is named after the U.S. state of Pennsylvania, where the coal-productive beds of this age are widespread.
